I have a TC29D that I use for finish mowing and I want to get a bush hog for it also. With the finish mower (which has high lift blades) on flat ground I can mow in 2nd range at pretty much full speed, but when I'm going up hill the tractor will loose PTO speed unless I slow down some. I was planning to get a 5' bush hog (probably a King Kutter model L-60-40-P) and most of the areas I will be using it in are fairly flat. I'm going to be mowing thick grass and some brush. Do any of you use a TC29D with a 5' bush hog? If so, how well does it handle it?

Danny... My TC29D runs my 5-ft 'el-cheapo' bush-hog easily. (Mostly grass, but I let it grow pretty big between mowings.) It's less of a load than my 6-ft finish mower (and that in short grass). I usually find myself going about 2/3 to 3/4 of max in 2nd range. If you have lots of brush it'll be a little more of a load. Seems like a good match to me. ....

I just purchased a King Kutter 72" rotary mower for my Kubota L4310. The interesting thing is that, once the mower gets going, there is so much mass that it sounds like a helicopter and not much slows it down. I doubt you would have any trouble with your setup. However, in case you aren't aware, King Kutter has the worst documentation I have seen so don't expect any advice on using it or maintaining it. ....

Thanks for the info. I'll probably go with the King Kutter in spite of the poor documentation. My Land Pride finish mower has poor documentation also. There were absolutely no instructions on how to attach the anti-scalping roller, or how to operate it, there were just basic assembly instructions.

In case anyone is interested, I borrowed a 5' Ford bush hog from my neighbor and the TC29D handled it easily. It is much less of a load than my 6' finish mower. I was cutting grass that was higher than the hood of the tractor and thick, and it was no problem. I was also able to mow up a very steep hill (steep enough that I had trouble keeping the front wheels on the ground!) and the tractor handled it with no problem. I didn't try it in brush, since it was a borrowed mower, but I'm sure I won't have any trouble.
